Sergio has been a part of Tina Jo’s Promise for the last 10 years, starting out when he was 18 years old working to care for the horses here at the sanctuary. Over the years, Sergio has left for other learning opportunities but somehow always found his way back to us. He is currently our Sanctuary Manager and the sanctuary has never looked nor operated better. His philosophy on how to relate to horses, actually all animals, is completely in line with ours. He works on learning the way horses communicate with each other and then tries to understand and communicate with them using their behaviors. Above all else, Sergio believes in treating all animals with patience and respect. In the years he’s worked for us, Sergio has grown through his own experiences and alongside us as we navigate a different way to approach interacting with all animals.
